Cut and fry them like french fries. Add a little kosher salt or sea salt. They have a good balance of sweet and salty. We made these in my Grande Manger class.

You can roast the potatoes and bananas ahead of time, then put it all together just before serving. Then heat it up in the oven.
5 medium sweet potatoes, scrubbed
4 bananas, unpeeled
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature
1/4 cup honey
Kosher salt
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup dark brown sugar
1 1/2 cups pecans, chopped
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
Prick the sweet potatoes all over with a fork, put them in a roasting pan and roast for 30 minutes. Toss the bananas into the pan and continue roasting for 10 to 15 minutes, until both the bananas and potatoes are very soft. Remove the pan from the oven but don't turn the oven off.
When the potatoes are cool enough to handle, scoop out the flesh into a large mixing bowl. Peel the bananas and add them to the bowl along with 1 stick of the butter, and the honey. Season with salt and beat vigorously with a wooden spoon until everything's well combined and the mixture is fluffy. Spoon into an oven-proof serving bowl and smooth the top.
In a separate mixing bowl, use your fingers to rub together the remaining stick of butter, the brown sugar, flour, and pecans until the mixture is the consistency of coarse crumbs. Sprinkle the crumb mixture over the sweet potatoes and return to the oven. Cook for about 20 minutes, until the crumbs are golden. Serve hot.Anyone have a good sweet potato recipes? I just steam them, mash them up and add a little butter and cinnamon. Yum!

1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/3 cup milk
Topping
1 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup flour
1 cup chopped pecans
1/3 cup butter, melted
1. Mix casserole ingredients together.
2. Spread mixture into a 13x9'; pan.
3. Mix together the topping ingredients
4. Spread the topping evenly over the potato layer.
5. Bake in preheated oven at 350 degrees for 25 to 35 minutes or until warmed throughout .
I know your talking about the sweet potatoe casserole. I have eaten sweet potatoes cut into slices and fried like french fries, they are popular at lots of restaurants here. Other than those two dishes, i've only had baked sweet potatoes. They are very healthy for you .
Scrub them, wrap in foil, put on a baking sheet (otherwise you will have a mess in the bottom of the oven) and bake them. 375 for 45-60 minutes. Until soft. Eat with butter and salt. Yummy!!
If you really like sweet potatoes the best way to eat them is with some butter. Just put one in the microwave, cook until soft and then take out and put some butter on it like a baked potatoe. Yummy!
Or you can make sweet potato chips. Cut thinly and fry or coat with oil or butter and bake until crisp
Sweet Potato - Pecan Pie
Ingredients:
1 pie crust, unbaked (9 inch)
Filling:
1 large egg
1 1/2 cups fresh sweet potatoes, mashed cooked
1/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons unsalted butter or margarine, softened 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, ground
1/8 teaspoon allspice, ground
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg, ground
Pecan Topping:
2 large eggs
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup dark corn syrup
2 tablespoons unsalted butter or margarine, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 dash cinnamon, ground
1 cup pecan halves
1/2 cup heavy cream, whipped stiff Prepare pie shell;set aside
Steps:
1. Make sweet potato filling: In med.
2. Bowl, with electric mixer, beat 1 egg until frothy.
3. Add all the remaining filling ingredients; beat at med.
4. Speed until the mixture is smooth, about 2 min.
5. Make pecan topping: In med.
6. Bowl, with mixer, beat eggs until frothy.
7. Add sugar, corn syrup, melted butter, vanilla and cinnamon.
8. Beat at low speed just until mixture is well blended, about 1 min.
9. Stir in pecans.
10. Oven to 350 degrees.
11. To assemble: turn sweet potato filling unbaked pie shell, spreading evenly.
12. Pour pecan topping over top.
13. Bake 60-70 min., until set and knife inserted in center comes out clean.
14. Remove pie to rack to cool.
15. Just before serving, decorate with whipped cream.
Thai - spiced sweet potato soup
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon canola or peanut oil
1 onion鈥攃hopped
3 cloves garlic鈥攃hopped
2 teaspoons red curry paste
2 pounds (1kg) orange sweet potato鈥攑eeled and roughly chopped
1 cup red lentils
5 cups chicken or vegetable stock
1 cup coconut milk
3 tablespoons fish sauce
2 teaspoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons lemon juice
Method:
HEAT the oil in a large saucepan over a medium heat. ADD the onion and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. ADD the garlic and red curry paste and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly. ADD the sweet potato, red lentils, stock, coconut milk, fish sauce and brown sugar and bring to the boil. REDUCE the heat to medium and simmer, covered, for 20 minutes. REMOVE from the heat and allow to cool a little. PUREE the soup in two batches in a blender or food processor until smooth. RETURN to the saucepan and stir in the lemon juice. SERVE in bowls garnished with cilantro.
Variations: Replace the sweet potato with butternut squash (pumpkin); substitute the lemon juice with lime juice; and use yellow split peas rather than red lentils (in which case you'll need to cook for around 35 minutes).

I just make my sweet potato like a baked potato...with a little butter, sugar and cinnamon..or honey, cinnamon and butter..
They are the best roasted the same way you roast potatoes.
Oil,salt,pepper and garlic salt.
I cook both together. YUMMY.
You could also slice them like thinchips and deep fry them.
Well thats what i do.
i like to put chicken breasts in a baking dish, peel and cut sweet potatoes and carrots and put into dish, all natural and low fat frozen (thawed) gravy put in too and bake together. its so good (season as u like)
My favorite recipe I discovered at a restaurant. Simple bake the sweet potato like you would a regular potato. When finished add lots of butter, cinnamon and brown sugar. WOW so very delicious.

peel, slice, boil til tender. While boiling mix up a sauce with OJ, honey, nutmeg, cinnamon, butter, and a generous amount of bourbon (or hard cider). Layer potatoes in pan and cover with the sauce. Bake about 30 min.
i like to prepare my sweet potatoes just like regular baked potatoes; as a substitute for pumpkin in pies, breads, and soups; and sometimes, i just get creative and throw them into a recipe -either mashed or chopped.
