I have some sweet potatoes at home, and I'd like to make one for dinner. Can I just bake the sweet potato like I would a white potato?
I also have some chicken and green beans. Any ideas for a good chicken recipe to go with a sweet potato?
I've had some luck before putting sliced white potatoes, chicken and green beans in a crockpot with some garlic and white wine. Do you think sweet potatoes would work in the crockpot, too?Sweet potato recipe?
bake like a regular Idaho potato, I top mine with butter and brown sugar
baked chicken and a side of green beans go great with your sweet potato
are your beans fresh or canned?
if fresh just clean and snap off ends, sprinkle with garlic powder and dot with butter and place in a microwave safe dish in a little water and microwave 5 min...keep checking till al dente'Sweet potato recipe?
You can bake them just the same if that's how you want them (just like a baked potato)
I personally think that sweet potatoes taste best when you bake/roast/grill them. They develop an awesome flavor when they get a little carmelized. I would cut them into cubes, toss in a little oil, salt, pepper (you may also add whatever herbs), put on a baking sheet and bake in the oven at 375 degrees for about 30-45 minutes (depending on how big you cut them.) Just check until they are fork tender. Make sure you turn them during the baking time.
I have tried sweet potatoes in a crockpot, actually pretty much exactly how you describe it, with chicken and other veggies. I wasn't as happy as just using white potatoes. This was because by the time the chicken was cooked, the sweet potatoes were pretty much turned into soup. (they don't hold their own as well as reg. potatoes do.)
You could still do your chicken in the crockpot with wine, etc would be really good. Throw the green beans in near the end so they still have a little bite to then and keep their vibrant color and nutrients :)
bake them in the oven and scoop out the middle when they have cooled down mix the insides with fried onions and grated cheese put the insides back and add tomato on top and put it back in the oven, with chicken roll the raw chicken in breadcrumbs but coat the chicken with raw egg first then coated it and cook in the oven.with the sweet potato and cabbage that will make a nice dinner.
yes bake it the same way u would a regular potato
once done. i cut mine in half and add butter then i sprinkle them with cinnamon and add marshmallows on them then put back into the oven until brown
season flour and fry the chicken and serve with green beans sauteed in garlic and oil
sounds like a good southern meal to me
yes. bake it like a regular potato. when the skin is wrinkled and the potato feels soft when squeezed then its done. cut it in half and sprinkle it with brown sugar or honey and maybe a little cinnamon.
be sure to put a sheet pan under it when you bake it. they drip as they cook and its hard to clean the mess!!!
I would bake the chicken and the sweet potato and steam the green beans and think I had a feast!.
You can also make whipped sweet potatoes, using orange juice instead of milk, or sweet potato fries. They are very versatile.
